How to decorate fake pumpkins…

058 060 061

Are you bored with your Fall decor?

Using ribbon and jute to decorate fake pumpkins is easy to do.  I used Glue Dots to adhere the ribbon and fancy tacks to hold on the jute.  I purchased the orange pumpkins at The Dollar Tree and the white one at Michaels.

Wood & burlap picture frames with clothes pin

006 007

I love these!  They are so darling and make the best gifts.  I posted how to make them back in March (see post under Decor), but wanted to show some new variations.

I am going to use them as teacher Halloween gifts, but you can create them for any occasion.

Halloween Ghost Treat Jars…

007

Remember my last post of easy 3 item ghosts?  Well these are the same ghosts, with googly eyes glued on and attached with glue to a jar filled with Tootsie Rolls.

You will need an empty glass jar & lid with the label removed.  I like to spray paint the lids white.  Be sure to find the bottom center of the ghost before gluing it onto the jar lid.  When you fill the jar with candy, be sure it looks nice from the outside, ie, have the large Tootsie Rolls standing tall around the outer edge of the jar.

A very easy and fun gift for teachers!

Easy 3 item tulle ghosts for Halloween

009

I have seen several different styles of ghosts, but I made these using only 3 items…tulle, 2.5″ styrofoam balls, and white ribbon.

Start by cutting tulle squares 2’x2′.  You will want 2 layers of tulle per ghost.  Place the styrofoam ball in the middle of the square and wrap the tulle around the ball, bunching it at the bottom.  Use white ribbon to tie the tulle onto the ribbon, just where the tulle is bunched.  I used the same white ribbon and a straight pin stuck into the styrofoam ball to hang these in my kitchen.

Wasn’t that EASY!!!  Happy ghosting…

How to turn a pair of shoes into “Ruby Red Slippers” for a Dorothy costume

050

Have your kids ever decided on a Halloween costume, yet you couldn’t find exactly what you needed to finalize the costume?  My daughter wants to be Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz this year.  Of course, I can’t find sparkly red shoes ANYWHERE.  I decided to take matters into my own hands, which I often do!  I thought to myself, “How hard can it be to put glitter on a pair of shoes and create my own Ruby Red Slippers?”  I found it to be VERY simple!!!

Start with a pair of shoes.  I used some that were quite beat up and ready for the garbage.  Spread Tacky Glue over the shoes, using a disposable paint brush.  I applied the glue to small areas at a time.

Sprinkle red glitter over the glue area and shake off the excess.  TA DA…you have your very own Ruby Red Slippers for Halloween!

Happy Glittering!
